"Lord, Make Me a Blessing"
Day Eighteen: "And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work."
--II Corinthians 9:8 (NKJV)
In this Year of Abundance, my prayer life is not focused on persuading God to bless me but rather asking the Him to make "me" a blessing. I desire to be a blessing to God and to others in an even greater way in 2018! I'm reminded of God's words to His servant Abraham in Genesis 12:2 when He said, "I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing." The focus of the Abrahamic Covenant was that God wanted to bless the nations through the life and seed of Abraham. God's desire is still the same yesterday, today, and forevermore. In the New Testament this same principle is lifted up by the words of the Apostle Paul to the Corinthians in saying, "God is able to make all grace abound toward you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work." God is setting us up so that we can be a blessing to others both now and throughout future generations. The question that I want you to ponder today is this, "What kind of blessing does God want you to be?"
God wants us to be channels of blessing, not reservoirs of blessing. A channel is a flowing stream or river that connects two bodies of water thru which anything passes or progresses. A reservoir is a place where water is collected and stored up for use, especially water for supplying a community or irrigating a field. Both the channel and the reservoir are much needed blessings, however God wants us to be a channel of blessings. As long as were are channels of blessing, God's blessing can constantly flow to us because He knows that we are going to constantly pour out into others rather than hoarding and holding on to what He gives us until the time is needed. God's gifts are bestowed upon us, not that we may have them to ourselves but that we may the more abound in good works to God and to others.
Father, make me a channel of continual blessings in 2018. Thank You for making all grace abound toward me and for giving me all sufficiency in all things. I declare that I have contentment in You. I speak into the atmosphere that All of my needs are met in 2018 and beyond according to Your riches in glory by Your Son Christ Jesus! I decree that I have abundance for every good work that You have assigned to my life in 2018 and every year thereafter, in Jesus' name, Amen!
